Principal’s Message

August 2022

Dear Jaguar Families,

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year!  I am honored to be the principal of Charles M. Johnson Elementary and look forward to another great year of serving the Jaguar community!

Prior to joining the Johnson Family,  I served as the Associate Principal of Jacob L. Adams and Greenwood Elementary.  I also had the privilege to serve as Resource Teacher at Glen Allen Elementary and classroom teacher at Highland Springs and Sutherland Elementary in Dinwiddie County.  In December 2021, I got married and my last name has changed from Taylor to Vandeweghe. I look forward to welcoming our students back and will continue to answer to both names while we all adjust!

Our school theme this year is “Rainbow of Possibilities,” focusing another year on the quality character component of our Henrico Learner Profile.  This year, we also plan to focus on global citizenship to ensure that our jaguars are life ready! It is critical that we continue to focus on social emotional learning and prioritize positive relationships among all students, staff, and families.

As we begin another year, I am confident that our Jaguars will be problem solvers as they view challenges as opportunities and grow into lifelong learners!

I am looking forward to another great school year!

Mrs. Katie T. Vandeweghe
