December has truly flown by! We had a month filled with steam day activities to swimming classes to matching outfits and so much more! We are closing out this 2023 year with a lot of smiles and memories to carry us over to start 2024! 🙌🏼

❤️Indigenous People & Czech, Polish, and Italian Month ❤️
Over the months of October and November, our students had the opportunity to learn more about each heritage and all the amazing contributions that these two months represent and give to our society. 💙


Ozobots with Mrs. Scuderi today was one of the highlights of the week! 🤖
The students in Ms. Taylor’s 2nd grade class learned how to code the ozobot to complete a maze. Shoutout to Mrs. Scuderi for such an awesome lesson! 🙌🏼








The first graders took a field trip to the Children’s Museum last week! We 💙 watching the students explore and learn in hands on activities! Keep up the amazing work first graders 💙

The students competed in our Johnson spelling bee today! There was some tough competition among these competitors. Each student did such an amazing job!

Mrs. Hines’ 4th graders put their brains & teamwork to the test when they were asked to build a sled for their snowman! Each group of students had to use different materials to build a sled, use math skills to measure how far, and communication to work together! ⛄️

🌟Staff Spotlight Time 🌟 Introducing our amazing Title 1 Reading Coach, Mrs. Romich! She always goes above and beyond for our staff and students! She is always willing to lend a helping hand, help with any resources, and coming up with awesome ideas for different ways to teach! We appreciate everything you do for our school 💙Get to know her a little better!

Years in Education: “16 years total, 3 years in the classroom at JES & 6 years as Title One Coach”
Favorite subject to teach: “reading! I love small groups and vocabulary!”
Hobbies: “I love paddle boarding, kayaking, and any outdoor adventure! I also love playing with my two dogs, Dexter & Dee!”

🌟 HUGE 🌟 shoutout and congratulations to our very own Tori Goode from Mrs. Collier’s 5th grade class! Tori won the Light of Hope nomination for Johnson Elementary for demonstrating attributes of Dr. Martin Luther King. We are so lucky to have Tori as a Johnson jaguar and we all couldn’t be more proud of her!

Ms. Kinney’s class enjoyed their second to last week of swimming! We asked two students what has been their favorite part so far and they said….
James: “I like when we put our hands on top of our heads to make a point. Then we have to go under water and try to swim!”
Elias: “I like when the instructor puts toys on the bottom and we have to go under and go get them!”

Last week we celebrated ending our first quarter of the ‘23 - ‘24 school year! 💃🏼 The students showed off their dance moves, teamwork skills, and craft creating!

🇺🇸 Last Thursday our second graders put on an amazing performance to honor our Veterans for Veteran’s Day! Special shoutout to our lovely music teacher, Mrs. Jackson for helping our students shine! 🇺🇸
